Herbie is one of my best sellers. Herbie was developed 'oh, gosh about five years ago' on ebay! A very lovely customer wanted a car on her bag, so i sketched 'Herbie' alas my first custom order was born! He is still going strong.

I designed this version along with Herbie (black) Herbie (blue). I think i need to get PC though and do a pink one too! Girls love cars too don't they! Or is just the fast one's that would cost you 12 bedroom mansion in Maida Vale! 'Well!! Dreaming starts young.......

Icecream

The sun was shining and very hot, i could just eat an icecream!

I searched my fabric cupboard (not for an Icecream) but for a bright summery fabric and came across this lovely Candy Stripe that has a vintage feel to it. Well for me it has. It reminds me of a day at the seaside, perhaps brighton in a beach hut beside the sea.

Icecream? OH YES PLEASE!

Whilst trawling the site of Etsy i came across this seller. I was drawn to her by this wonderful Vintage reworked dress.

I love this.....

As those of you that know me will know that i absolutely love Vintage! I think it's a tragic event to throw away something that has a history or even cut it up but when it's done in a constructive and artistic way and brought back to life it's ok and i'll forgive the artist. Just like Vintage Opulence does with her pieces. Being British born but living in the USA she has taken her art across the water.

A little about Sarah at 'creator' at Vintage Opulence:

My name is Sarah and I am a British lady (originally from the beautiful north coast of Cornwall) now living in the sunny southern United States I live, eat , breathe and dream about clothing and clothing design, having enjoyed playing dress up from as young as I can possibly remember, I also love to create, I just, "have" to, combine the urge to create with a fascination with vintage clothing in particular and a bent for transformation (it's a butterfly/phoenix/cinderella thing) here then is "Vintage Opulence" I recycle, hand dye, deconstruct and rework vintage and vintage inspired clothing and lingerie, whilst also selling vintage clothing in its unaltered form, so there is a little of both here. In my "spare time" I enjoy walks in the countryside, burlesque performances, visiting places of historical significance , cocktails and fine dining, 20th century history , growing my own vegetables, belly dance, yoga, world travel, kayaking and meeting new people.

Her work is beautifully constructed. She takes the like's of a slip that possibly wouldn't be worn today with our garments but creates a wonderful structure for delights of us Vintage Lovers but does this in a tasteful and beautiful way. I only wish i had somewhere to wear one.

Custom Made Cushion

I made this for a friend to give her friend who's just had a baby. The brief she gave me was pink, pink and pink!! Where did i go other than Pink!!

I sketched on canvas then sketched some more and basically made it up as i went along! 'eyes roll'. I then did some hand sewing and some very delicate machine stitching.

I'm quite pleased with it

I do hope she like's it!

If you forgive my awful photograph below of these fabulous Hasbeen Lookalikes you will see they are a perfect answer to your 'MUST HAVE' this Spring Summer! NO girl should be without a pair of these in her wardrobe and for all you Men if it take's your fancy...

I was on the trawl of the internet for the very stylish, very on trend pair of Swedish Hasbeen's when i came across a website called Lotta From Stockholm. Lotta From Stockholm have the very fabulous Clogs made for them that have a very Swedish Hasbeen look about them. They have a few styles of Clogs but these braided version really caught my eye due to the likeness of the Braid Hasbeen.

After seeing the price of £45.00 and the only difference being the shape of the under sole (the hasbeen is more right angle cut) i purchased a pair. When i received them i wasn't disappointed either!

Yes the Hasbeen is much more expensive and beautifully finished but for a 1/3 of the cost you can still have your very funky, very fashionable and very on trend version! The only thing i would say is they're a little on the large side not like the Hasbeen which are on the small side.

I must also add that these Clogs are not replicated in anyway and the company that have made them have been making them this way for years! They brought this style back from the 70s due to the popularity in Fashion.

I just bought a new Vintage Dress!!

I just bought this fabulous 1960's dress. I think it has a 1920s flapper look about it, if you removed the belt, what do you think? You could team it with a black belt and T Bar shoes or white belt and white T-bar shoes or without the belt and wear with a high heel. Teamed with beads or a flapper style necklace (you'll find more about that below) i think i've got a great outfit!!

Louise at Catwalk Creative has some wonderful and truly unique finds. Anyone who know's me will roll their eyes and tell you that that i have this obsession with anything Vintage. From being as young as 13/14 i used to search second hand shops around Ashton Under Lyne the town i was brought up and Manchester City to buy 1950s, 1960s two piece suits and watch Quadraphenia all day every day in my Summer Holidays. I did get some very strange looks and fingers pointed at me but in was 1982/1983 and it really wasn't what everyone was wearing!

One Summer my Nana let me look through her wardrobe when i'd stayed there (she lived in Scotland) for my Summer Holidays. I found this fabulous Jade Green leather coat from the 60s and a PVC mac. OH MY GOD i was in Fashion Heaven. I wore them both on my return home to have the 'Michael' taken out of me walking to school, the sniggering and pointing, but did i care? NO, i was an individual and a style lover and not a Fashion Victim i told myself...

A couple of weeks later my green and blue coat went missing and i couldn't find them anywhere in the house. Where on earth could they have gone?

My Mum had thrown them in the bin!

I cried for weeks, one because they were my Nana's and two because i adored them. My Mum? She was embarrassed that i was walking around in these beautifully designed coats that were from her childhood. Years later i suspected that my Nana's boyfriend, hum hum 'friend' had possibly bought them and my Mum disliked him and couldn't stand the sight of them! Oops...

My Mum and my middle sister laugh now. My sister used to dress in 1940s head wear probably from the war (my uncle Tommy hoarded allsorts) and walked the streets where we lived in a long Mac (far too big for her) and her Dolls Pram. She wore bright red lipstick (she was only ten!) and me with my 1960s two piece! We must of looked a right pair!!

I have bought lots of Vintage Dresses, shoes, Jewellery over the years, infact i have a whole suitcase full of clothes and bags that i need to list on ebay but i just can't bring myself too.

My worst regret is selling a 1920s Flapper Necklace on Ebay that had the most beautiful tubular beads that when the light shone on it, it sent off the most amazing colours of purple, pewter and greens. Ah well you live and learn....

I can't wait for my dress, i'll be in 1960s heaven, just a shame i don't have my very own Lambretta and a Jimmy aka Phil Daniels to ride it with me..

Well back from my Jollidays already! Its takes a year to get there and you're having so much fun its over before you can blink.
I'd put some photo's on but i've lost my blumming camera charger!! OMG i have such a blumming nightmare with Camera's!! This one is about 6 weeks old and can i find a charger to buy for it? NO!! aarrrgghhhhh!!!
Hopefully i will get something sorted!

Allergic Reaction!!!

Oh Blimey! I had a severe allergic reaction to something which made my eyes swell, my throat and my body looked like i had a severe dose of Scarlett Fever!!

A trip to Hospital for an injection in the Posteria did the trick, 'ouch'!

My Husband very kindly said that if he knew how ugly i could look he wouldn't of married me! 'laughs'. If only i had known!! 'laughs'.

I am so vein i haven't been out of the house for two days just incase i bumped into someone i haven't seen for years and they actually thought i looked like i did. 'ooohh, i bumped into Gail and she really hasn't aged well!!' 'laughs'. Can you imagine!! Well i'm sorry it's bad enough that i need Botox than have to explain to someone that i don't usually look like this!!

The worst thing is we haven't had the children for a week either as they have been at Nana's in Wales. We could of been out partying!!! NOT! OMG i would need the Accident and Emergency ward just to get over it!

My June Best Sellers!!!

Well June was a record month in sales for missy moo moo and sam!! My Gingham storage bag must be the most popular bag on the internet!! Well ok, maybe not but its a very popular one with all you Mum's and Dads!

They so versitile i suppose too and thats why they sell so well. Being great for school i sell a lot of them for PE kits and being in School colours or Bottle Green, Red, Black, Blue, yellow etc they match with your childrens uniform.

I've come up with a new fast more cleaner way for the personalisation but its still in the testing stage but its looking good. 'what is it'? Well come on you can't expect me to give away my secrets yet.. If it works and washes well then i could have found a new quicker way that could help churn them out far quicker cutting down my schedule work time of 7-10 days.

Blimey i'm shattered all that sewing! But i still love what i do and when i get lovely comments from my customers it makes it even more worth while so thank you to you all for taking the time to do that.

Ketty has joined my blog!! Ketty runs the most fabulous website selling toys that you had perhaps forgot about bring back all that nostalgia!!

I bought a Janet and John book for Izzy one Christmas for her. If i'm honest it was because it brought back some beautiful memories for me a child. Izzy was a little too old for it really but she still loves it!

Knot Just Jigs is a really wonderful site for those games, books etc that really get you child involved and something for you to share with them bringing back those childhood memories you have.

Pick up sticks! Remember those! I bought Sam and Izzy some as a stocking filler one year they've brought endless fun to us all (Sam and Dad cheat and tell they didn't move the stick!) we know they did!!!

Pink Gingham Personalised Bag

Izzy and Sam were off School for a term break but Sam only had one and Izzy two much to his dissapointment! Izzy of course loved the fact she was off School when Sam was leaving the house at 7.30am and she was still tucked up in bed.

Izzy and me sat in the Garden in the Sun, her reading and me sewing in a 1970s Tent that was her Dad's when he was her age but of course we couldn't call it that so we told people it was a teepee! Well come on...

I had a lovely week spending quality time with Isobel, she just wishes she didn't have to go to School!! Its a tough life Izzy!

Missy at Manchester City

This is Isobel at Manchester City when they played West Brom. City won 4-2 but that score line made them look great when they played awful and quite honestly West Brom could of scored more!!

Moonbeam is the Female Mascott and Moon Chester is the Male. Moonbeam came up to our stand to sit with all the supporters (yes unusually there were empty seats). Isobel squealed with excitement and had a photo with her. Moonbeam was very obliging so thank you for making Isobel's day!!

Look!!! MOOOOOOOOO!!! OH what a gorgeous velboa fabric!! I could MOO all day about this.

Black and White with Orange felt lettering and a heat proof backing for you GHD's! OH God if your like me and a little bit careless on your dressing table then these are great!

I wanted something funky to put my Straighteners on but didn't want the boring straight forward matt! Being me i wanted something slightly different but quirky and fun!

I've not seen hide nor hare of them! Isobel has pinched it!

I'm going to make a range of them so if you like them and would like a custom made one give me a shout as i'm always happy to work with your idea's.

FUNKY BABY SHOES!!

How adorable are these beautiful handmade shoes!!

They handmade in felt and all seams are hidden so they don't cause irritation to babies soft new skin

I love these they're so well made and really unique.

I've given these to two of my friends who have just recently given birth and they just loved them!!

I fell in love with them as soon as i seen them and i know you will too!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!

Look it snowed!!!

I love the snow but hate it when i have to drive!! I couldn't drive!! The snow was so think and deep that i couldn't get it out of the garage and up the very small sloape i have!!

This is the view from my front room window isn't it beautiful!

I had to walk 3 miles in it though to get to the nearest Post Office to get my orders out on time! MMM, maybe it should snow more often its good for the calories, ain't it? OR does that mean i'd just eat more? Yep probably the latter!

Who put that blumming telegraph pole there!!!!

Can you see Hartshead Pike in the distance? This is a fabulous structure that has lots of History. It was erected as a look out to protect the hill from unwanted enemies of the 16th 17th century. It was then rebuilt in the 18th century and was a beacon tower. The Victorians put a shop inside and that stayed up until the late 1960s i think. Its a beautiful view of the whole of Manchester and on a clear day you can see the Welsh Hills very clearly and more importantly Eastlands Manchester City's Stadium!

The Romans built a brick road upto it which is right facing the house but you'd have to have X ray eyes to see it!

Right i'll stop boring you!

The snow is still here a week later and more is forecast :( I've had enough now!! My poor little car has been parked on my little old lane for nearly a week now and has been subjected to Iceballs!

I've bought some lovely fabric though and thank fully i got that ok, thank God for the internet! I don't always have to drive to the Wholesaler!

Happy New Year to one and all!! Well i haven't wrote on my blog for what seems like an age!! Hope you all had a good Christmas & hope you have a prosperous New Year!!

I'm busy making new designs for my storage bags and as usual have lots of idea's just not enough time to do them!

From Contemporary if you like something aside from the norm or Traditional.

I've been sew busy, did you like that? SEW??? OK i'm not funny i'll start again. I've been soooooo busy and have struggled getting my sacks finished!! But they're here now. I need to get some professional photo's done really but just haven't the time to do that either!!! I still really need to do more so will be adding some more hopefully this weekend.

Flap Jacks!

Sam came home from School today having made some flap jacks. My Daughter and Husband have Coeliacs which is an auto immune disease which means they do not and cannot tolerate Gluten. This in mind my very thoughtful Son made them Gluten Free.

Although they tasted divine, they looked like Cereal!! Poor Sam, he was so excited to make them and they didn't work out. We ate them all the same, LOL

Maybe next time they'll look like these Sam!!

The Pelican!!

Here's a creation by my Son Sam! I think he's a budding future Architect! He loves to create and since being really small he's built things from Lego! My Mum bought him Lego when he was 5. I thought he was perhaps a bit young for it and he wouldn't bother so much, i was wrong!

Since then he has constantly built cars, houses, ships, planes, you name it.

Here's his new creation.

Apparently its called "The Pelican"

Our Dog Sitting is coming to an end, well we think so! We can't get in touch with our friends who were supposed to be back this weekend.
Poor Barney the Dog is ready to go home i think now, although Isobel and Sam are going to miss him, they've loved looking after him but he's been bullied by Chomp the Rabbit his own food stolen by that pesky Wabbit! He's been head butted away from his Dog bowl and Bum Butted off the Grass! Grumpy Old Chomp will be glad to see the back of him as he's quite put out by him getting some attention!
